McCall Expansion Project

The new 2017 Winchester Public Schools Facilities Master Plan identified a critical shortage of classroom space and other deficiencies at McCall Middle School as the most urgent/top priority, due to the 17% enrollment increase districtwide in the last 10 years.   A portion of the McCall library has been partitioned for instructional spaces, the cafeteria is inadequate for the student population, and all teacher workrooms/meeting spaces have been converted to instructional use.  A projected 5-year enrollment increase of over 150 additional students in grades 6-8, as well as 21st century academic program improvements, will require more space.

McCall is our town’s one middle school for 6th, 7th & 8th grade students to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need for success in high school and beyond. The middle school years should be rich with exploration, challenges, and personal growth.  Space shortages limit our ability to meet students' needs, maintain class sizes, and provide opportunities like expanded world language courses, fine and performing arts, or a technology “makerspace.”  This proposed McCall Expansion project will support essential core programs and 21st century learning in a thoughtful, cost-effective, and efficient way.
