Dear Winchester Families:
I have been enjoying visiting classrooms at we enter our second full month of school. Please check out our district Facebook page (@winchester.ma.public schools) or my Twitter account (@JudithEvans1) for the latest photos and district news.
We recently celebrated the opening of our completed Winchester High School with a lovely ribbon cutting ceremony. Here is the link to a video of the event: WHS Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.m4v
Please stop in at one of our planned WHS Community Tours on 10/13 from 4-6 or 10/14 from 2-4 for a tour!
How do you measure a school’s success? Winchester Public Schools has partnered with several other districts in an effort to better understand how we can focus our school improvement efforts. Our participation in the Massachusetts Consortium for Innovative Education Assessment (MCIEA) helps us to reimagine how we measure the quality of our schools and the learning experiences of our students.
To achieve this goal, MCIEA solicited input from stakeholders in each consortium district to build a school quality framework that reflects what the public wants to know about their schools. The framework has been built around multiple measures, which include academic, social-emotional, and school culture indicators, in order to piece together a fairer and more comprehensive picture of school performance.
As we develop benchmarks for these multiple measures, we would appreciate your participation in a very brief survey. At the end of the survey, participants can enter their names and e-mails for a chance to win one of five $100 Visa gift cards.
Thank you so much for your help! Here is a link to the survey:
My next Superintendent's Chat of the season will be held on Tuesday, October 24th from 6 to 6:45 p.m. in the school committee room at Parkhurst School. All are welcome to chat informally about the district and your children's start of school. I hope to see some of you there!
