We are writing to confirm that all Winchester Public Schools will be open tomorrow, Tuesday, October 14.

Last Thursday evening, a small amount of chemical was released in a chemistry prep room at Winchester High School, leading to the closure of the building. The Winchester Fire Department, Massachusetts Hazmat Team, Massachusetts Environmental Protection, and Winchester Departments of Health and Facilities responded immediately. The situation was contained that night, and cleanup was completed over the weekend under the guidance and approval of state and local officials.

Additionally, given what was reported by some media outlets, we want to reassure you that the cafeteria area was never directly impacted by the event.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we provided a thorough and careful response. We look forward to welcoming students and staff back to school tomorrow.
