WHS Guidance
WHS Guidance
Overview
Counseling and guidance services are provided by the Guidance Department, which includes six guidance counselors, two adjustment counselors, and the Guidance Department Administrative Assistant. The Coordinator of Guidance is Ms. Suzanne Ontso.
The goal of the Guidance Department is to promote social/emotional, academic, and career development for all students. We work to help students form a sense of responsibility and develop the skills necessary to realize their individual goals. All WHS students participate in comprehensive guidance programming with grade-specific workshops designed to increase their understanding of the WHS community and develop self-advocacy, planning, and independence skills while becoming familiar with their individual learning styles and interests.
Confidentiality
A counseling relationship requires an atmosphere of trust and confidence, which must not be compromised by the counselor except where there is a clear and present danger to the counselee or other persons. The school counselor may share information gained in the counseling process for essential consultation with other appropriate persons specifically concerned with the student.

Please make an appointment with your Guidance Counselor to inform them of your application process.
If you are applying to a private high school, the transcript request form procedure is the same as the college application process.
Transcript Request Forms are available to download and bring in to the Guidance Office. They must be filled out for each private school to which a student is applying and submitted to the Guidance Secretary by the application deadline.
Parents should complete the Parent Brag Sheet Form (link) to give their counselor information for a recommendation if needed.

Naviance (Family Connection)
Naviance (Family Connection) is a comprehensive website for students and parents to use as a tool to organize personal data, layout a game plan, complete a personality inventory, maintain a list of prospective colleges and track the application process. We are pleased to offer this resource as a complement to the series of guidance workshops and individual appointments with counselors. The guidance office will periodically post information of interest to students and send group emails targeted to subgroups.
